THE LEGEND REVIEW:
Forget a wannabe star like Saravanan, even a bona fide superstar like Rajinikanth wouldn't have managed to save this vanity project.
Taking a bit of Shankar's Sivaji story, JT and Jerry have given the then commercial formula of a hero who protects people, 5 songs and 6 fight scenes. War strikes when looking at the old formula. Nothing new.
STORY:
The story revolves around world famous scientist Dr. Saravanan (Legend Saravanan). Dr. Saravanan, who revolutionized the field of antibiotics, works from his village for his people.
When Saravanan's friend (Robo Shankar) who was suffering from diphtheria dies, he decides to find a cure for the disease. But the pharma mafia, influenced by Saravanan's earlier research, didn't like it.
So they decide to ruin Saravanan's research with Suman, Rahul Dev and others causing him personal loss. The story is whether Saravanan will succeed beyond all this.
There was a lot of anticipation for The Legend because Saravanan was playing the hero. As a hero he has fought, romanced, danced, delivered punch lines and acted emotionally.
But he acted without showing these on his face. Saravanan has been given over make-up. Urvashi Ravtela is beautiful. Yogi Babu's comedy never fails to get laughs. Vivek's last film could have been anything else. All the characters are horribly dressed as in Saravanan Annachi's shop advertisement. Neither the writing nor the hero's performance impressed the fans. It would have been better if they had focused on the screenplay instead of unnecessary songs and fight scenes.
